THE MISSING MONA LISA

Uncover the mystery of Mona’s disappearance—the teacher guide can be found here!

This interactive activity brings a piece of art history to life! The teacher will display a print of the Mona Lisa and lead a discussion about her significance. Then, the Mona Lisa will mysteriously “disappear” from the classroom display—just like the famous theft from the Louvre. The secret mission? To see how long it takes students to notice her absence! This engaging exercise sparks curiosity and connects students to the fascinating story of a missing masterpiece.

MONA LISA IN A BOX

Ready to build Mona Lisa in her special display? Open the lesson plan for all the details!

Students will bring the Mona Lisa to life with a hands-on project inspired by her iconic display at the Louvre. First, they’ll design and color a background for Mona, adding their own creative flair to the scenery. Next, they’ll carefully color the Mona Lisa herself, assembling the two pieces into a box that mimics the protective case where she resides in the museum. This project combines art and history, offering students a unique connection to the world’s most celebrated artwork.

COLLABORATIVE MASTERPIECE

Team up to complete Mona! Find the step-by-step lesson plan by clicking here.

Students will work together to recreate the Mona Lisa in a unique and engaging way! Each student will color one of nine sections of the artwork, focusing on their individual piece while learning about the color wheel. Once all the sections are complete, they’ll come together to assemble the pieces into a full, vibrant version of the Mona Lisa. This collaborative project offers a fun way for students to see how their individual contributions create a unified masterpiece.

Box Bonus: Meet the Artist

We love teaching about artists just as much as their masterpieces! Inside your box, you’ll find a special bonus—a cutout of Leonardo da Vinci himself. Cut him out and use the included brads to attach his movable arms, bringing the Renaissance genius to life. After all, Leo made Mona, and now your students can bring him into their own creative world!
